Interview with Luca Masini, Executive Chef Segara Village Hotel

How long have you been cooking professionally?
I’ve been cooking personally since I was 16 years old, so it’s almost 12 years

Tell us about your new position as the Executive Chef Segara Village Hotel
This new position is a new challenge for me. I’m happy to be in this Position and work with my team.
This position will improve my skills and knowledge.
What is your most memorable moment since being a chef ?
I cannot say that I had a memorable moment because I’ve been working in many different situations, places and restaurants till now. So I prefer to say that I value all my previous experiences, which brought me to where I’m now.
What is the weirdest request of food that you had to make?
There is always a weird request everyday.
Have you ever thought of opening up your own restaurant in the future?
Yes, I’ve always been thinking about it, the time will come in the right time.
How would you describe your style of cooking?
Well, it is casual cooking style, using traditional techniques and also some new ones. I like cooking simple, light & fresh dishes, especially in Bali.
When did you realize your passion in culinary world, and what triggers it?
I liked to cook at home even when I was kid and then I started to learn more about cooking at school.
What do you do for fun during your day off?
In Bali usually I go surfing with my friends
What is your most favourite food?
That’s a good question but I can’t answer because I like whatever is good.
How do you want to be remembered?
To be who I am not what people think of me.
