INTERVIEW WITH YULIATY LAWANDRA CLUSTER DIRECTOR OF SALES PADMA RESORT LEGIAN & PADMA RESORT UBUD

author : , published : 21 May 2025

Can you tell us a bit more about you and your role in the company?
From Sales to Revenue to Marketing to Reservation, my role is all about connecting the magic of our resorts with guests from around the world. From strategy to storytelling, I work closely with an amazing team to ensure our brand shines brightly and our guests’ experiences are unforgettable.

What is the best thing about working for Padma Resort Legian & Padma Resort Ubud?
Where do I begin? Besides being surrounded by stunning views; from beachfront sunsets in Legian to jungle serenity in Ubud; it’s the people who truly make it special. Our team is like a family, and we share a genuine passion for hospitality. Add to that the freedom to be creative, and you have got the perfect recipe for a rewarding workplace.

Describe a typical day in your life as Cluster Director of Sales.
No two days are ever the same, I think that’s the beauty of it, despite working 8 to 5. Mornings start with a check-in with my teams. Then it’s on to reviewing sales & marketing campaigns, brainstorming creative strategies, meeting with partners, and keeping a close eye on market trends. There’s always a dash of spontaneity thrown in, whether it’s a last-minute media visit or a quick site tour with potential clients.

Could you share the latest updates from Padma Resort Legian and Padma Resort Ubud
We’re always evolving to elevate the guest experience. At Padma Resort Legian, we have just unveiled refreshed rooms & exciting activities with amazing landscape that unite into one perfect destination for our guests of all ages. In Ubud, we are excited about our latest wellness initiatives, offering guests even more ways to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature. And yes, stay tuned, there’s more on the horizon!

With several outstanding F&B outlets at both resorts, is there one restaurant or signature dish you would personally recommend to guests?
Oh, that’s a tough one! But if I had to choose, I would say don’t miss the Oxtail Soup at The Puhu Restaurant in Padma Ubud, it is a delicious twist on an Indonesian classic. And in Legian, our Slow Roaster Wagyu Beef Short Ribs at SKAI Bar & Grill is a personal favorite, fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable.

What are the proudest moments in your career to date?
One of my proudest achievements is starting my journey as a manager at the age of 22 in the dynamic hospitality scene of Dubai. Being entrusted with leadership responsibilities so early shaped my resilience, adaptability, and passion for excellence. Fast forward to today, leading the rebranding and integrated marketing campaigns for Padma Resort Legian and Padma Resort Ubud, and seeing the impact resonate globally, has been incredibly fulfilling. But above all, mentoring young talents and watching them grow into confident professionals is what brings me the most pride. There’s no greater reward than helping shape the future of our industry.

What moments at work make you smile the most?
It’s the little things: a glowing guest review, an impromptu team laugh, or seeing a creative idea come to life in a way that wows our guests, and of course, targeted numbers achieved! Oh, also watching someone fall in love with Bali, especially for the first time, never gets old.

As travel enthusiast, where is your dream destination, and why?
Africa is at the top of my travel bucket list. The thought of witnessing the Great Migration in the Serengeti, hearing the roar of lions at dawn, or watching elephants roam freely across the savannah is absolutely thrilling. There’s something incredibly humbling about being surrounded by such raw, untouched nature. Beyond the wildlife, I’m fascinated by the rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and diverse landscapes, from deserts to rainforests. It is a destination that promises both adventure and deep connection with the natural world.

How do you manage to maintain a healthy work-life balance in such a demanding role?
Balance is the key, especially in hospitality! I make it a priority to set boundaries, take moments to unplug, and embrace Bali’s natural beauty whenever I can. Whether it is a sleep-in on the weekend, brunching on Sunday, a sunset walk on Legian – Seminyak Beach, romantic date night, checking out new restaurants or hotels, a travel break (of course) and loooooooong holiday (fingers crossed more often). With all these, I know I will find my time to recharge so I can bring my best self to work.
