A spectacular stage of The Apurva Kempinski Bali presents an exceptional culinary journey especially crafted for the month of June. Three world-class chefs and an international sake sommelier are ready to take the stage and showcase their mastery in a series of powerful collaborations from 1 to 3 June. Owner-chef of a Michelin-starred restaurant Chef Kanako Wakimoto, award-winning Chef Yusuke Aoki, Michelin-star background Chef Shunji Hasegawa and Japanese artisanal beverage expert Haruka Uemura will collaborate to present their master creations at Izakaya by OKU and Selasar Deli.

From 1 to 2 June, Chef Shunji Hasegawa, is at the helm of Izakaya by OKU, will host a unique five-course and seven-course Omakase experience, together with culinary and artisanal beverage experts from Japan. Honing over 25 years of profound knowledge and passion for Japanese gastronomy spanning Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore and Timor-Leste, Chef Shunji Hasegawa a deep understanding of the art and philosophy behind modern Japanese cuisine. Joining him is the highly acclaimed Chef Kanako Wakimoto, the owner and head chef of the Michelin-starred Sorahana restaurant in Tokyo. Born in Japan, she pursued a nutritionist track before shifting paths to become a chef and pouring her passion for nutrition, nature and the essence of ingredients into her culinary creations with her current focus in Sorahana restaurant, which means ‘Sky Flower’. Completing the trio, Chef Yusuke Aoki, winner of the 2018 Valrhona Chocolate Chef Competition and armed with years of global experience in crafting masterpieces, will undoubtedly bring a sweet touch to this remarkable culinary journey. His career has inspired many talented pastry chefs at renowned establishments worldwide, infusing each dish with a blend of innovative techniques and tantalising flavours. Finally, complementing the powerful collaboration is Haruka Uemura, a certified international sake sommelier who will elevate the evening with artisanal Japanese beverages. With Tokyo roots, more than a decade in hospitality, and a passion for Japanese sake and shochu, Haruka brings her unique blend of knowledge and expertise to Izakaya by OKU at The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

The journey continues with the unlimited Sweet and Savoury afternoon tea in Selasar Deli featuring Chef Yusuke Aoki’s signature crafts on 2-3 of June. Upon deciding to become an independent pastry chef, he has been working very closely with Valrhona Chocolate to continue to inspire others through his knowledge and expertise. From conducting master classes to developing recipes and creations with modern techniques, these gastronomy masters have indulged the Southeast Asian region and Tokyo with their premium artisanal pastry creations, some of which will be presented at Selasar Deli.
