Interview with Akhmad Fadholi General Manager Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan

What does a day-in-the-life of a General Manager look like for an international hotel chain?

I always try to fit in my morning workout to stay healthy and fit. When I get to the hotel, I do a round of walking to greet my associates and… to make sure everything is running smoothly. When I get to the office, it is a necessity to read and reply to emails and to make sure that I’m not missing out on anything, and I proceed to do a morning briefing with my team. Every day is a different day and that what makes this job so interesting as it’s dynamic and challenging.

Tell us about the newly opened Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan

In addition, the Evolution Restaurant & Bar is also available for anyone who wants to grab a bite, a beer, and enjoy the breath-taking view of Jimbaran Bay.

How do you cope with the competitions in Bali these days? What is your hotel doing to stay competitive?

Well, it’s all about providing guests with the things they love, earning their trust and loyalty so they would feel right at home when they think of Four Points by Sheraton Bali, Ungasan. With that, the Marriott BonvoyTM loyalty program also helps us to be competitive in earning the loyalty of our guests.

What is your greatest achievement in your career at hospitality industry?
When I was promoted to be a 5-star hotel GM without having to be Executive Assistant Manager or Hotel Manager. It was in 2014 at Sheraton Bandung.

Having accomplished so many things throughout your career, to whom do you owe your success to?

My three mentors: they are all three senior GMs in my previous companies.

Describe yourself in three words

Fearless, People-person, Resilient

If you were given a chance for a fix up in life, what would you do differently?

I wouldn’t change anything in life because everything I did, regrets and success, lead me to where I am. I’m also humbled and proud of all the achievements I have achieved so far with the support of people around me.

With all the pressures in the field, what do you do to relieve stress?

I try to go to the cinema every now and then, I listen to music, and I go to the gym to clear my thoughts!

Do you have any dream destination? If so, where and why?

Of course I’ve always been a Hawaii-Five-O fan as a kid, and that really made me want to visit Hawaii one day!
